Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule has announced that NC State alum Ickey Ekwonu, the sixth overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, will get the majority of first-team reps in practice moving forward according to the team's official website.

This would appear to indicate that Ekwonu will be a starter at left tackle in his rookie season with Carolina.

Ekwonu was a Unanimous All-American and First Team All-ACC in 2021 for NC State. The Charlotte-native also won the ACC's prestigious Jacobs Blocking Trophy last season in his final year with the Wolfpack.
