NOTES

The Wolfpack opens its season against Georgia Tech on Nov. 5, then a plays a second ACC game before New Years when it travels to its personal house of horrors (WakeForest), appropriately on Pearl Harbor Day, Dec. 7. State has a chance to get off to a fast start in the ACC with seven conference games on the schedule before the first meeting with one of the teams expected to be ranked in the preseason polls -- defending national champion Virginia, Duke, Louisville and UNC. ...

It's an opportunity for which coach Kevin Keatts' team would be well-advised to take advantage, since the Wolfpack will have to play those teams five times in a 10-game stretch -- with a trip to Syracuse thrown in -- between Jan. 20 and Feb. 25 ...

State's nonconference schedule includes eight November and December home dates, including back-to-back games at Reynolds Coliseum -- Nov. 16 against St. Francis Brooklyn and Nov. 19 against Alcorn State as part of the Barclay's Center Classic.

The Wolfpack will also play up-and-coming Memphis in the aforementioned Barclay's Classic in Brooklyn on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, Wisconsin as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Dec. 4, at Auburn on Dec. 19 ...

State will play all three of its Big Four rivals twice this season. The Wolfpack will play at home against UNC on Jan. 27 and travel to Chapel Hill on Feb. 25. Duke will come to Raleigh on Feb. 19 with the rematch at Cameron scheduled for March 2. The return game with the Deacons won't come until three months after the first meeting, in the regular season finale on March 6 ...

Finally, State will have three Saturday-Monday turnarounds, each with the more difficult test in the second game -- Jan. 18 at home vs Clemson & Jan. 20 at UVA a week later on Jan. 25 at Georgia Tech & Jan. 27 vs. UNC; then Feb. 29 at Pitt & March 2 vs Duke.
